CECORE convenes community groups, civil society, governments and international partners to translate grassroots learning into policy, scale locally-owned peace infrastructures, and prevent violent conflict across Uganda and the Eastern & Central Africa region.
CECORE brings 25+ years of experience in conflict transformation across Uganda, the Great Lakes and the Horn of Africa. We combine grassroots presence, evidence-based research and regional coordination (as the GPPAC Eastern & Central Africa secretariat) to deliver locally-owned, conflict-sensitive peacebuilding programmes.
Local presence + regional reach: Strong community networks in target districts and a regional coordination role that links 16 countries across Eastern & Central Africa.
Program delivery & technical capacity: Experience delivering projects on youth peace, SALW advocacy, climate & conflict, land mediation and peace education.
Research & policy links: Produces baseline studies, policy briefs and feeds local learning into national/regional policy processes.

We have contacts in many of the communities around the country, through persons we have interacted with in one way or the other.
Community members can also contact us in case of a need for our services especially in peacebuilding, conflict resolution or conflict sensitive planning.
Over the years, CECORE has received and worked with volunteers and interns from both within the country and globally; coming either as part of an academic requirement, or to gain practical experience in our area of work. The duration at CECORE would depend on both the availability of opportunities as well as space.
The volunteers cater for their needs but the organisation may offer to arrange for their safe accommodation. When based in the office, the office facilities are at their disposal.
We invite media personnel and houses to partner with us to contribute to a peaceful society. We can support training in ethical as well as peace reporting.
The media is a vital partner when it comes to advocacy on issues of peace and development as it is from a peaceful society that comes development.
GPPAC – Eastern & Central Africa – CECORE serves as the regional secretariat coordinating member organizations and convening the Regional Steering Group.
UANSA / EAANSA / IANSA – CECORE is an active member of national, regional and international SALW networks to influence arms control and policy.
Coalitions & thematic networks – CECORE participates in gender, youth, climate-security and SDG16+ coalitions, contributing research, training and policy inputs.
We partner in several ways:

Research & knowledge partnerships: baseline studies, policy briefs and applied research with academic partners.
Capacity building & training: tailored trainings for government, CSOs and community actors.
Advocacy & networks: shared campaigns, policy engagement and regional advocacy platforms.
Consultancy & advisory services: mediation, conflict sensitivity mainstreaming, evaluation and monitoring.
Water provision as a peacebuilding tool (with Saferworld): CECORE’s conflict-sensitive approach to water projects in Kasese improved service delivery and community relations.
Land conflict mediation support (with GIZ): Capacity building and ADR mechanisms helped address private Mailo-land disputes in central districts.
Connection for Peace (Dutch MFA & GPPAC): Regional programme to strengthen local infrastructures for peace, with district inception meetings and an RSG convening in November 2024.
